Couples: elegant company for two travellers
Couples travel together and occasionally want a third person in the evening, for entirely ordinary reasons. A table with more conversation in it. Somebody who knows the city. A night out that neither of you has to organise.
This format is exactly that: a companion joining two people rather than one, arranged with the same care as any other booking and described plainly to everyone involved before it starts.
Sec 02
What a couples booking is
Company for two, in the social sense. Dinner as a table of three, an evening moving between places with somebody who knows which door is worth queueing at, or a relaxed night in with better conversation than a hotel television offers.
It stays companionship throughout. The register is elegant and the arrangement is non explicit, exactly as it is on every other page of this board, and each woman decides her own boundaries and holds to them.
What that buys a couple is usually described afterwards as ease. Two people who travel together develop a shorthand, and a third person who is genuinely good company breaks it open for an evening, which is a pleasant thing to do to a long trip.
Sec 03
Both of you, not one of you
The single condition worth stating plainly: both people need to want the evening. A booking arranged as a surprise for a partner who has not agreed to it is not one we will take, and saying so early saves everyone an awkward conversation later.
In practice the easiest arrangement is when both of you are in the message thread, or when the person writing makes clear that the plan is a shared one. Nobody will interrogate you. It simply makes the evening better for all three people in it.
Sec 04
How the evening tends to run
Dinner is the usual opening, because a table gives three people something to do while they get used to each other. Somewhere in Oud-Zuid if the evening wants white linen, or a long informal table if it does not.
After that it follows its own nose. A bar, a walk, a canal at an hour when this city is at its best, or straight back if the day was long. Amsterdam West is a good second act for anyone who would rather end the night in a converted gasworks than a hotel bar.
Sec 05
Arranging it, and what to say
Tell us it is a couples booking in the first line, then the usual details: the hotel, the hour, and what kind of evening you both had in mind. If either of you has a preference about company, say so, because it genuinely helps the suggestion.
Couples bookings are arranged for longer formats rather than single hours, and the figure comes back on request and goes into your thread in writing before either of you says yes. The boarding steps work the same way as for any other booking.
Sec 06
Who suits a table of three
This format asks for social generosity, the ability to include two people rather than pick one. Luna is bold, warm company who fills a room without taking it over, and Patricia is attentive and gentle in a way that makes a new arrangement feel entirely normal.
Lea is charming and spontaneous, and Michelle is nurturing and talkative and very good at making three people feel like old friends by the second course. Two of them are among the auburn and red haired companions, and each of the rest has a profile on the companions page.
Sec 07, Briefing
Couples, Answered
Q01Do both of us need to agree to the booking?
Yes, without exception. A couples evening only works when it is genuinely a shared plan, and we will not arrange one as a surprise for somebody who has not agreed to it. Say in your first message that you are booking for two people and nothing else about the process changes.
Q02Can it be dinner only?
Of course, and that is a very common version. A table of three that runs long, with the booking ending after coffee, is a complete evening in itself and needs nothing after it. Give us the venue and the hour of the table and the whole arrangement is built around that.
Q03How long should a couples booking be?
Longer than an hour. Three people take a little while to settle into an evening, and a short booking spends most of its time on that. Three hours is a sensible minimum and most run to four or more. We will tell you honestly what your plan needs.
Q04Is every companion available for this format?
Every companion on the board accepts couples bookings in principle, and each one decides for herself whether a particular evening suits her. The names on this page are the ones we would suggest first, based on temperament rather than anything else.
