Auburn and red hair, three companions and three weather systems
The smallest group on the board is also the one with the widest spread of personality inside it. Three companions, three shades of auburn and red, and three evenings that have almost nothing to do with each other.
Lea is wavy auburn and warm to the point of being disarming. Luna is dark auburn red and will leave you holding an opinion you did not arrive with. Patricia is auburn brown and walks slowly on purpose. Pick by temperament rather than by colour here, because the colour is the only thing they share.
Sec 02
Lea, the improvised evening
Lea, 23, keeps a place in Oud-Zuid, minutes from the museum quarter hotels, with hazel eyes and a soft sun-kissed way of dressing that leans warm rather than architectural. She turns up at a hotel bar on a wet Tuesday having decided in advance that the rain is somebody else's difficulty, and the room changes temperature accordingly.
Theatre is her fixed point, interior design is how she looks at every space she walks into, and she has strong views on whoever chose the colour of your corridor. Two hours booked with her routinely become an evening the guest wishes had been booked for four.
Sec 03
Luna, the evening with an argument in it
Luna is 22, departs from De Pijp and knows exactly which of its wine bars justify a Friday queue and which are trading on a name earned long ago. Brown eyed, direct, entirely unbothered if your opinion differs from hers, and genuinely good at the kind of table where the conversation has some friction in it.
Wine she will discuss at length and without apology. Theatre she takes to the stranger end of the programme. Photography sits underneath both, mostly aimed at strangers and bad weather. She is the booking for a night out that is actually going somewhere.
Sec 04
Patricia, the evening that slows down
Patricia is 28 and belongs to the Jordaan, which was built for people who walk slowly. She paints in watercolour, stops in front of secondhand bookshops, and can turn one up on almost any street between the Westerkerk and the Noordermarkt.
Film noir is the part nobody predicts, loved properly, all shadows and dialogue and doomed decisions. She listens closely, remembers what matters and returns to it later without making a point of the fact. Book her for a long dinner and a longer conversation.
Sec 05
Reading the colour honestly
Auburn and red cover a genuinely wide range, and the photographs on each profile are the only reliable guide. Lea is warm and wavy, closer to copper in daylight. Luna runs darker and deeper, closer to red than brown. Patricia sits between the two, auburn with more brown in it than either, which reads differently under a restaurant lamp than it does in the afternoon.
None of the three treats her hair as the interesting thing about her, and neither should a booking. What separates them is pace. Lea speeds an evening up, Luna sharpens it, Patricia slows it down until the city stops feeling like somewhere you landed a few hours ago.
Sec 06
Three districts, three shortlists
Between Oud-Zuid, De Pijp and the Jordaan, this group covers the south, the centre and the canal streets, so one of the three is usually the quick arrival wherever you are sleeping.
If three names is too narrow a choice, Lea also sits with the petite companions, Luna with the curvy group and Patricia among the tall and slim lists. Tell us the hotel and the hour, and the rest takes one message on WhatsApp, from €180 per hour.
