Lea, soft and spontaneous company in Oud-Zuid

Half past seven on a wet Tuesday, and Lea arrives at the hotel bar having already decided that the weather is not going to be a problem. She shakes the rain off her coat, orders something warm, and within two minutes the evening has a completely different temperature from the one you were sitting in before she walked through the door.

At 23 she is sweet in the uncomplicated way of someone for whom very little has gone badly wrong, and spontaneous in a way that regularly improves a plan. She is petite, 161 centimetres, with long wavy auburn hair and hazel eyes, and a soft, sun-kissed romance to the way she dresses: warm colours, gentle fabrics, nothing severe or architectural.

Interior design is how she looks at rooms, which makes hotels an unexpected pleasure for her. She notices ceilings, lamps and the exact shade somebody chose for a corridor, and she will tell you whether whoever did your suite was being brave or lazy. Ceramics is the hands-on version of the same instinct, badly and happily practised on Sunday afternoons. Milena is the other one on the board who works at a wheel.

Theatre completes the set. She goes often enough to have favourites and opinions, and she is very good at the part afterwards, the drink where you argue about what the second act was really doing. She is based in Oud-Zuid, close to the museum quarter hotels, and she speaks English with a lightness that makes long conversations feel short. Charming is the word guests use, and they always sound slightly surprised by it. What surprises them more is how quickly a booking made for two hours becomes a booking they wish had been made for four, which is worth knowing before you write to us.

Tickets first, if you have them. Lea is at the theatre often enough to have both favourites and grudges, and the bit she looks forward to is the drink afterwards where the second act gets taken apart.

Before that, she would rather meet at your hotel than at the venue, partly out of curiosity about the room.
